Accessibility Statement

Our standard

We want everyone — students, parents, guardians and staff — to be able to use IhyaPortal. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA: most of the site meets the standard, and the known exceptions are listed below.

What we do

• We run automated accessibility checks (axe-core, against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA rule sets) across the public pages and the signed-in learner, guardian and staff journeys as part of our test suite. Serious and critical failures are treated as defects that must be fixed.
• Every interactive control shows a visible keyboard focus indicator — a two-tone ring designed and measured to stay visible on every background the portal uses, including in dark mode and in forced-colours (high-contrast) mode.
• A "Skip to content" link lets keyboard users jump past the navigation on every page.
• You can choose light or dark theme, a higher-contrast mode, and a comfortable or compact layout density from the display settings, and the portal remembers your choice.
• Buttons and controls are sized for touch, with a 44-pixel minimum target used across the app.
• Pages are built to work at small screen widths and when zoomed.

Known limitations

• Automated checks cannot find every accessibility problem. Our automated suite treats serious and critical issues as blocking; some moderate and minor issues it reports have not yet all been fixed.
• We have not yet completed a full manual audit with screen readers and other assistive technology across every page.
• Files uploaded by staff and students (for example course materials and homework submissions) are shared as they were uploaded, and may not themselves be accessible documents.
